Funny news about Tokyo

Time has come to bring you news of Denise and myself. Today we had been very exausted because of all the walking through Tokyo the last days. But we had to go to the Working Holidays Bureau once again. Yes our lady had awaited us a whole lot of apologies for the trouble with the apartment with the old lady. But today we found some interesting jobs and it had been very funny.

We chose some jobs for room cleaning and kitchen help/ waitress. Our office lady took a look at our choices and said- well this one is kitchen help at a french bakery-
I said yes no problem and I speak a little French
- big eyes, eh the manager gave us today a new job apply for sales assistent at Ikebukoro.
I had a look at it, saying, hmm I would prefer the kitchen
- second big eyes- switching to the next job offer, this is room cleaning

we both- yes we know. thinking whats the problem?

she-even bigger eyes, and it's room building, you have to use a hammer and such stuff.

we- yes- no problem. Still thinking what's the problem.

she- but it's better for males, they want experience and you have to do wood work.

we- yes, we have experience and are able to work with hammer and screw.- what's the matter? in our minds.

she- bulging eyes, completly out of herself.- a minute later- I would recommend another job for you, looking at the next offer sheet. It had been at a Onzen a little bit outside. - ah yes, they are really desperate, but it's kitchen work too and you have to work at weekends too.

we- no problem.

she- completly out of herself again.
But after a while she gave us our recommendation and tried to make an interview appointment, but the manager had been unavailable today, so we have to phone today and asked when we could meet him.

It will be a nice job, of course 4h by bus away from Tokyo, but free accomodation, 3 meals included and only 4 days work of which every Yen goes in our pocket. Hoping that they want us, we would stay there for a while, perhaps longer. We can go to Tokyo by their free shuttle bus every free day, going to concerts and all the other stuff. We could rent a room at our old hostel at Nishi-Kawaguchi every time then if we wish. They need 5 people there. So please cross your fingers.

After a some more bulging eyes that we don't mind kitchen work and working at weekend she let us go. Ah yes, before we go, I told her, that for a student in Germany it is not unusual to work at a kitchen. As a student you have to work in the evening and at the weekends, and thats why you don't have much possibilities, the stores closed at 8pm and are closed on sundays. You could be lucky to work in a shop, but usually at restaurants, bars, fast food or event stuff like concert halls, sport halls etc. And many German women are able to do house work for herself, no longer needing a male hand to put a nail into the wall or something else. She couldn't believe it first.

Well if I'm looking at the nails many, many Japanese women wear, these ugly, long, glittering sculpture nails- hmm yes they won't be able to use a hammer at all, or even work in a kitchen with it. It seems a miracle they are able to dress themselves, poor creatures, they couldn't play guitar or bass, to draw, to sew, to do stuff themselves, yes I even wonder what they do in nice, cosy hours with their boyfriends, are they able to touch their men without hurting him???? Big question.^^ And a funny too. Well taste is different, they must like these nails, I consider them really ugly stuff.

Back to the point, we were leaving the bureau and went to Akasaka, to an Austrian restaurant, we should call later, because the manager, a nice lady, had been very busy, but perhaps she need someone.
After it we went to Roppongi and searched for 5-Chome, and couldn't find it for a very, very long time. Still it had been raining and we had forgotten our umbrellas at the Austrian restaurant. But luckily you can buy umbrellas everywhere thanks to the convinis. We were walking up and down, searching and finally we found a map and the location. A nice German bar with a very nice owner, who wants to talk with us, we should call him today to make an appointment for a talk. Very, very nice place I think.

After it, a little bit soaked because of the rain we went to Hard Rock Cafe, we have just seen before entering our German bar. We spent a little bit time at the shop and then went into it, eating a little bit. Very nice place and good music. Surely we will got there again and again.

Today we will make the phone calls and then we have to wait and see. Would be great to work and live at the Onzen, and then 3 days at Tokyo, perhaps 1-2 evenings working at the German bar, surely a nice place to meet people and have a funny job and enjoying Tokyo, sleeping at our old inn at Nishi Kawaguchi.
